What is a parallel spring?

The springs of this seal group are parallel to the shaft. There are two basic types; seals based around a elastomer diaphragm for the shaft seal, or based on an o-ring shaft seal. Parallel springs are recognisable by their single compression spring located behind the rotary seal head.
